Birth Services

My Birth Doula Services Include:

1 Complimentary meet and greet at your house or other comfortable location for us to get to know each other and for you to ask me questions about my practice and philosophy.

2 Prenatal visits - (1 hour each) which include but are not limited to: talking about and helping you to create a birth plan, defining what my role as your doula will be, discussing and/or practicing comfort measures and positions for pushing, discussing medical interventions and your options, plans for the time immediately following birth, plans for the first days and weeks of the baby's life.

24/7 On call support by email or phone two weeks before and up until you go into labor.

Continuous support during labor- Once you feel you are in labor, you'll call me and we'll see when and where should meet you (I will need up to an hour to get prepared, find childcare, and drive). Once there, I will remain with you throughout the labor, providing continuous support to you and your partner, making suggestions for progress, ease and comfort supporting your confidence and encouraging your body's own natural abilities. Your body knows exactly what to do! As we work together, I will support your process in allowing the birth to happen with as much ease as possible as it unfolds.

1 postpartum visit (optional and times are completely flexible depending on your needs and schedule): the postnatal visit is a time where I can see how breast feeding is going and how the family is settling and to admire your beautiful baby! The visit is also to make sure that you have the continuing support you need from the community and to give you resources such as breastfeeding, parenting groups or postpartum mood disorder groups.

Services that doulas do NOT do:

Perform medical procedures, such as blood pressure, IV's, blood draws, or manual exams.

Make decisions for the mother or baby's medical care.

Also, we will not judge you under any circumstances especially if you feel like you want pain relief. We have no negative opinions of hospitals and their staff. We do not have our own birth agenda. This is your birth not ours.

Working With Partners

A caring, committed partner provides invaluable support to a laboring mother. A partner, family member or close friend loves you and knows you in ways that no doula can. Depending on our conversations prenatally, we can either be your primary labor support or assist your partner in supporting you. Many times partners feel overwhelmed or nervous during the birth. Others feel confident and prepared. New Roots Doulas provides the grounded support you all need to fully appreciate this experience.
